AMBOY DEPOT MUSEUM – A PLACE IN HISTORY

Jul 23, 2017

The Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society will host a unique program at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 14th in Amboy Illinois at the Amboy Depot Museum on Main Street. (Turn west at Casey’s General Store.) Take a look at the brick and cut Joliet limestone building that once was the division headquarters of the Illinois Central Railroad and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tour an old caboose; a fully restored, one-room country schoolhouse and the freight house as Jack Dempsey tells us about the history. The museum has undergone some recent updates that you will want to see. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited. The program is free, but donations may be made to the museum if you wish. For more information, please call 815-284-1134 or stop by the LCHGS library at 113 S. Hennepin Avenue in Dixon.
